Here's how David Kirsch and his two daughters stay fit
As my daughters, it would be safe to assume that Emilia and Francesca have been raised and surrounded by everything to do with health and wellness. They learned to run, jump, and even do push-ups at my private fitness club surrounded and encouraged by some of the worlds most famous models and celebrities. From picking out produce and mushrooms at the Union Square Farmer’s Market, to sorting through the organic vegetables and the ‘healthy’ cereal at Whole Foods, they have both become quite adept at the market and in the kitchen. I look forward to my home - cooked meals on Father’s Day and my birthday!!
Though they don’t always listen, I have raised them to chew their food slowly, savor every bite, and listen to their bellies to gauge their level of fullness.
When it comes to movement, they are endless balls of energy - from cycling - we did 10 miles today, to softball tosses and scrimmages, to Uber competitive games of tennis, balance has always been key. As I write this blog, the girls are honing their math skills with some IXL, an amazing app that lets them practice everything from math to science to history. Sound Mind Sound Body!
We got the movement part done in the morning, and now it’s time for some brain time.
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, and we were on lockdown, the girls and I quickly pivoted. I am very proud to say that as director and cinematographer, they were able to film my online workouts that I still use to this very day. As they watched me do my twice daily free online workouts, they were awed by the power and effect it had on the people watching. It wasn’t long before they asked to host their own IGTV live workouts. The silver lining through all this madness, has been Emilia and Francesca’s discovering an inner voice and strength that they didn’t know they have. We are not the ‘perfect’ family, we do love our occasional gelato and my famous turkey meatballs and spaghetti, but we always strive to a live a life full of joy and balance.
